Keep Linens White (& Plentiful)
The only time a spa doesn’t have a fresh stash of plump, luscious white towels and robes at the ready is when they have Turkish towels and robes at the ready. Maybe it’s because white linens can be bleached for sanitary purposes, but regardless of the reason, snowy white textiles in the bathroom will get you to spa heaven in no time.
Neutral Palettes for the Win
While definitely an aspirational space, the same approach can be taken in a more humble space, especially in a boring all-white rental bathroom that you have little control over. Embrace the “bland” palette and mix in some warm woods via accessories.
Never Skip Relaxing Music & Scents
If you’re a lover of baths, or just like to languish in your bathroom, do yourself a favor and load up on the candles, and throw in a petite bluetooth speaker for good measure.
Greenery is the most natural way to purify the air in your home, and since spas are all about purification and renewing, that means that plants + bathroom = spa, right? Plants of all varieties are great for even the tiniest space as you can hang them from the ceiling, perch them on windowsills or shelves, or even crowd a floor corner with them.
Use Only Pretty Packaging (Or None At All)
When was the last time you went to a spa and saw big crusty bottles of St. Ives huddled on a shelf corner? If the answer to that is “recently” it’s time to get a new spa. If not, take note. Pick up a few apothecary jars, small glass containers and soap pumps at HomeGoods for cheap and fill them with epson salts, bath bombs, pretty bar soaps…whatever you like to pamper with.
Don’t Forget the Bath Tray
There’s nothing nearly as indulgent as luxuriating in a tub with a bath tray stocked with a drink of choice, a candle and any skincare accoutrements. Shopping options are vast, but you can also try you hand at making one yourself.
Think Simple Vertical Storage
When counter space is in short supply, try getting creative with vertical storage, like how The Lettered Cottage used a three-tier fruit basket to maximize space for storing sponges, towels and other spa goodies.
Try a Wood Bath Mat
While a simple white bath rug is a great solution for a spa-inspired bathroom, a wood bath mat feels even more luxurious and special (and some people say they are easier to keep clean, as well).
